We understand that parenting can be both a rewarding and challenging journey. At times, families may find themselves in circumstances where they require assistance and support to provide the best possible care for their children. It is in these moments that Sisu Services can be involved with you and your family.
Our primary aim is to empower parents who are involved with social care to build stronger, healthier, and more nurturing family environments. We recognise that every family is unique, and so are the challenges they face. Our service is designed to cater to the diverse needs of families, and we are here to offer our support with empathy, understanding, and a commitment to your well-being.
Our experienced social workers conduct thorough assessments to understand your family dynamics, strengths, and areas where support is needed.
We work closely with you to develop personalised support plans that address your specific needs. These plans are flexible and designed to help you overcome challenges and strengthen your parenting skills.
We offer a wealth of resources, including workshops, informational materials, and access to community networks, all aimed at enhancing your parenting knowledge and abilities.
Our service can also support you in accessing advocacy to help with navigating the legal aspects of child protection and family rights. We are here to ensure that your rights as parents are upheld.
Parenting can be emotionally demanding. We offer a safe space, and counselling where appropriate, for parents to discuss their concerns, fears, and challenges and provide emotional support through our trained professionals.
Thank you for entrusting us with the opportunity to be part of your journey towards stronger, happier families

A residential family centre is a place that provides a safe home for parents and their children so that a team of workers can see how the parents are caring for the children. It should also give the parents any help and support they may need to be able to learn how to do this well.
A community-based assessment is where a family is assessed and supported in their own home whilst workers visit to see how the parents are caring for the children. It should also give the parents any help and support they may need to be able to learn how to do this well.
You will receive daily feedback about your progress. We work with you to identify areas of strengths and concerns and come up with a plan of support to help you progress. You will have a weekly meeting with your assessor and during this time we can discuss all aspects of your placement plan and we can look at what is working well, what we are worried about and how we can progress. You will be given feedback and copies of our observations and daily summaries with the opportunity to offer your views on how you think things are going and anything you think you may need. All this information is shared with the Local Authority social worker.
Yes, family time can be facilitated if it is planned and agreed by your allocated social worker. We will try to make this a really positive experience for all those involved and can offer a range of suggestions of how this can be best facilitated.
We have team of dedicated staff that are always available day and night, they will be there to support and guide you whenever you need.
We have activity sessions where you can learn skills relating to parenting, these sessions are delivered in individually and an in groups.
We have a counselling therapist available to all parents residing at Sisu Nest. Stacey will provide a safe and confidential environment for you to have some emotional support and time for yourself.
Whilst staying with us parents receive a robust parenting assessment. We use the following Assessment Framework:
ParentAssess: This framework is designed to be simple and easy to read by parents who are being assessed. ParentAssess recognises that being assessed is a stressful process and it is important the parent understands what they might need to do to work towards a positive outcome. ParentAssess uses a traffic light system throughout the assessment along with a range of visual aids to assist the parent.
Key elements of ParentAssess are:
The child's experience of being parented
How the parent meets the physical and emotional needs of the child.
The parent's daily living skills
Parental functioning
Specific issues such as domestic abuse, alcohol and drug use, offending and gambling.
If any gaps are identified in the areas above then the parent's support network and their ability to access support is considered.
ParentAssess is our preferred model of assessment however, we can offer a PAMs assessment if it is requested by courts or the Local Authority. We can talk to you about PAMS if this is requested.
