Blended Assessments

At Sisu Services we pride ourselves on being creative and responsive to what families need in an assessment package. We recognise that some families need the time to be away from their homes to reflect and to receive input in a therapeutic setting in order to bring about change, possibly those with a history of substance use or being a victim of domestic abuse.

Whereas some benefit from remaining in their own homes receiving support and assessments in their own environment, possibly those with learning needs. Yet this package allows for a combination of the two approaches, possibly where the needs of the parents have not yet been established but may not need the full 12 week residential package. It’s another option supporting families remaining together.

Sisu Services, Supporting Families in the Community

Blended Assessment Overview

Blended Assessments - Best of both worlds: Assessment packages consisting of 6 weeks in one of our residential family centres, followed by 6 weeks in the family home with up to 24/7 support.

Robust Assessment of Parent Capacity: This 12 week package allows for a comprehensive and immersive assessment to understand how a family will manage at home, all within the court timescales.

Reducing Package: Where it is safe to do so, support can be reduced as the assessment progresses positively. This is proportionate for families and cost effective for Local Authorities.

Highly Responsive: This package is flexibly designed to meet individual families’ needs. Having capacity for 27/7 support in the community or access to our dedicated helpline means crisis can be avoided.

Solo Placements: The Sisu Roost has the capacity to facilitate solo placements for families that need it, allowing for further flexibility within this package.

Programs & Services

Parenting Support: Our parenting programme, developed in collaboration with ParentAssess, is a strengths based approach to meeting identified need. Individual learning styles of parents are considered to bring about positive outcomes.

Evidence Based Assessment Models: ParentAssess is our preferred assessment model, and we are a front runner in the delivery of these assessments. The assessment follows a family through the centres into their homes meaning continuity for them and a robust final report for the Local Authority.

Targeted work: Using the ParentAssess framework, we are able to quickly identify areas where targeted support is needed and can address this with our relationship-based approach to working with families. With round the clock support in the centres, we can understand what will be needed before a move home.

Community Integration: Sisu Services collaborates with local organisations and groups to ensure a smooth transition for families back into their communities.

Length of Programme: 12 weeks in total. Flexibility for shorter or longer packages where necessary.
